Works in Progress

Like many of you, I have several complicated, challenging needlework projects underway, but I always like to have one super-easy project as well.  My current easy stitchery is this Elizabeth Bradley kit, "Three Birds", which I will take to California next week to work on at the hotel.  Elizabeth Bradley kits are great for those times when you want to stitch but you are too tired or distracted to work on anything else.  And they make perfect travel projects.  Because they are worked in cross stitch instead of tent, no frame is required; they can easily be rolled up and stuffed into a tote bag.  The ten mesh canvas is easy to see, and when the light is really bad you can work on the background.

Each Elizabeth Bradley kit comes with a printed canvas, Appletons tapestry wool, instructions, and a full color chart for reference.  Most of the kits are 16 x 16 – making them ideal for pillows, footstools or small chair seats – and several kits can be joined together to make a rug.  The Appletons tapestry wool in cross stitch needs no blocking, and is very sturdy and hard-wearing.  If you are looking for a fun, relaxing needlework project with a guaranteed beautiful result, I highly recommend an Elizabeth Bradley kit from England.  When I finish Three Birds it will be a companion for the Squirrel pillow, which can be seen with my dachshund on our About Us page.
